Project Background and Purpose:
Acadiana Planning Commission is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) offered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) via the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) as administered by the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and as approved by the Acadiana Planning Commission’s (APC) Board of Directors.
On August 3, 2017 the Governor’s Office of Louisiana announced funding availability for the Acadiana area, designating the entire region as the recipient of HMGP funding from the Presidentially-declared Disaster (LA-4277) which impacted the Acadiana area in late 2016. The APC Region includes: Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, and Vermilion parishes. Applications from St. Mary parish will also, be considered for funding due to their proximity and impact on the APC region. The purpose of HMGP is to capitalize on the opportunities to take critical mitigation measures which reduce the risks associated with loss of life and property from future disasters.
